2024 End of year letter

In early 2024, Emily and I shared with our family, friends, and church family that God was pressing on our hearts to continue the mission of church planting in the Las Vegas Valley by starting a second church! Some of you may not know this, but back in 2016, Emily and I moved from Tennessee to plant The Well Church alongside Steve and Nikki Witt. For eight incredible years, we witnessed God’s faithfulness as hundreds came to faith and were baptized. Truly, the harvest was plentiful, and God was sending workers into His field (Luke 10:2).

Fast forward 8.5 years, and God called us to step out in faith again! With the support of Steve, Nikki, and The Well, we were sent out in June with a team of 60+ people committed to the mission of seeing the Las Vegas Valley come to Christ. So much has happened this year, and I want to share some of the highlights with you:

January

Held our first interest meeting after announcing the church plant at The Well Church. Launched our social media channels to begin sharing the vision with everyone we knew.

March

Hosted our first LAUNCH TEAM meeting with 12 passionate individuals.
Emmaus Church became OFFICIAL! Emily and I completed the North American Mission Board (NAMB) assessment for church planters and received the green light to proceed. Launched two small groups, which grew to over 45 members within the first month.

May–August

Hosted mission teams and organized our first canvassing and outreach events in our future community. Welcomed mission teams from Englewood Baptist, Redemption Church, and Brentwood Baptist—thank you for your partnership! Celebrated our first salvation through Emmaus Church as Jeremiah came to faith at our sports camp. Organized our church equipment, prepared trailers, and secured Selma Bartlett Elementary School for our September preview services. Began a men’s small group and conducted ministry training for our team.

September

Held two preview services, where we saw 5 salvations! Attendance was overwhelming, with 160 people joining us, including several mission teams. Secured Greenspun Junior High School as our future service location, giving us more room to grow. Began searching for a storefront space for a more permanent location. We also served all season with Del Sol Football!

October

Launched weekly services on October 13th. Celebrated our first baptism. Hosted our first Fall Festival, with over 150 in attendance, supported by mission teams serving our community.

November

Celebrated a second baptism. Attended our Church Orientation with NAMB in Georgia. Collected Thanksgiving baskets for five families in our community. Launched our first Angel Tree initiative.
Two truths bring us great comfort as we continue to pursue God’s mission:
God will build His Church.
The gates of hell won’t prevail.
The need here remains urgent—over 93% of the people in the Las Vegas Valley are not Christ-followers. The harvest is plentiful, and we remain fiercely reliant on God to transform lives through the gospel.

Looking Ahead to 2025
As we prepare for the official launch of Emmaus Church, I’m asking for your continued support of God’s mission. Would you prayerfully consider making an end-of-year gift to Emmaus Church? You can do so with the link throughout this page titled "Year End Gift." When you give, you’re helping us live out our mission: introducing people to a life-changing relationship with Jesus Christ. I can’t wait to share with you next year all that God accomplishes in 2025.

Let’s continue the kingdom work together for His name’s sake!

With a grateful heart,
Pastor Jon
