Growing Deep & Growing Wide 8.3.25

Title: Growing Deep & Growing Wide
Main Scriptures: Acts 2 & Mark 16
Growing Deep & Growing Wide

You ever been to a concert? They typically have 1.5 hours of opener bands. Most times, those bands are not as amazing as the main act. I remember Emily and I getting an opportunity to see Switchfoot LIVE in concert and it was UNREAL!

When they introduced them, the crowd went crazy and its what we were all waiting for. WHY was it so exciting? Because we knew the band. We loved their music. In the NT, it was no different. Disciples had met Jesus and knew him and loved him! They wanted everyone to know about him so much so that they would INTRODUCE people to him and for most disciples, until their death… In John 1:40-42, Andrew introduces and brings Peter to Jesus. In John 1:43-46, Philip introduces and brings Nathanael to Jesus In John 4:28-30, 39 - The Samaritan woman goes back to her village and introduces everyone to Jesus and brings them to him. In Mark 2:3-5, friends bring a paralyzed man to Jesus and is introduced to him. No matter where you read in the NT, we read account after account of ordinary people whose lives were changed by Jesus and in turn, they introduced everyone they could to Jesus.

This is the same mission that drives us here at Emmaus Church. INTRODUCING PEOPLE TO A LIFE CHANGING RELATIONSHIP WITH JESUS. God has given me fresh vision for our new fall semester and I want to share that with you today! DEEP and WIDE in 2025-2026. I believe God is leading us towards deepening discipleship and community along with widening our reach in our city. It will take each of us on Purpose and in His Power.

What part will you play?

1. GROWING DEEP - Relational Discipleship Small Groups Proverbs 27:17 “Iron sharpens iron, and one man sharpens another.” Hebrews 10:24-25 “And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together… but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the day drawing near.” Acts 2:42-47 “They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers…"

Discipleship Pipeline What is our Discipleship Pipeline? A 3-Step Approach to Accomplishing EMMAUS CHURCH Discipleship Vision.

Step 1: Faith Foundations
Step 2: Growing Deeper
Step 3: Kingdom Multiplication

Beginning this month, we will be implementing a team of disciples that will be intentionally training NEW BELIEVERS and those growing deeper. Where are you in this journey? The LORD says: Jeremiah 29:13 “You will seek me and find, when you seek me with all your heart.” TODAY: I ask of us to take an evaluation… Are you interested in the foundations of your faith? Are you ready to go deeper? Are you ready to multiply?

2. GROWING WIDE - Kingdom Expansion Mark 16:15 “And he said to them, ‘Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation.” Christ is calling us to introduce him to the whole world - Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, and the ends of the earth. Acts 1:8 “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”

Being 7 months in, this is a process! We take it in bites! We will focus this year LOCALLY and INTERNATIONALLY.
